New VW site from CPB

Volkswagen of America

I think Crispin Porter and Bogusky have got to be one of the best agencies out there for thinking through intuitive, exciting, emotional, and on-target online experiences. The new VW site is pretty brilliant in its simplicity - to take all that info that a car site has to have and compress it down to a really simple nav is a Herculean effort.

Some really amazing work here titled A4 Papercut. All paper sculptures made from a single sheet of paper.
The detail is unreal.

Lugging Gear in Car-Crazed California

jay jay @ 9:14 am — Filed under:

This article about a great JLOOP friend, Russ Roca, is pretty great.

A freelance photographer, Roca travels to magazine photo shoots and reporting assignments, often many miles from where he lives, and lugs around many pounds of cameras, tripods, light stands, strobes, even a miniature dark room, to photo shoots. So giving up driving altogether seemed an unlikely option for him.

I know I, for one, can’t imagine doing the type of commuting Russ does without even the option of a car. Russ’s photos are beautiful and his commitment to doing the right thing is beyond admirable. Way to go Russ!

BlueMarble.com - Socially Responsible Investing

jay jay @ 6:58 am — Filed under:

We’re very proud to have been a part of the launch of www.bluemarble.com. The site was designed by Caroline Chen of ChenGrafix. We’ve been working with Arturo Tabuenca of Blue Marble to optimize the site and finalize the Flash and PHP/MySQL production for the site. The site is deceptively complex, with plenty of dynamic Flash content and smart forms, polls, market data, etc.

We feel fortunate not only to have worked on this project, but to have learned about Blue Marble and the world of Socially Responsible Investing - which we knew nothing about before (at least I didn’t). SRI has shown incredible growth in the massive investment industry and it is good for all the right reasons. Good for the earth. Good for humanity. Good, sound investments in companies with an eye toward the long-term. Why wouldn’t you choose to put your money into companies that are thinking 10, 20, 50 years into the future and planning now to keep our rainforests around, and making conscious choices not to support sweatshops, etc.

It just makes sense.

So read up about Blue Marble - the story of its creation, the world of SRI, and sign up for the wonderful Out of the Blue newsletter.

This idea is for real. And its time has come.
Cheers.

Interactive Video

I ran across this site for the red bull copilot air race and there was a portion that was a perfect example of true streaming view on demand. After you get throught the short intro click on “THE RACE” then check out the interactive experience portion. Changing camera angles and stuff, very interesting.
